With the re-start of APECS Sweden comes not only a new Executive Secretary, but a whole new Steering Committee. Four different institutions are represented in the Committee – Stockholm University, Uppsala University, University of Gothenburg and The Royal Institute of Technology.
The first meeting of the new Committee took place on 9 February 2016 and the main discussion topic was “Goals for 2016”.
- We’ve decided that there will be two main scopes of interest this year. First, we will organize activities during the APECS Polar Week 14 – 20 March 2016 and Swedish Polar Research Secretariat’s Polarforum later in the autumn.
- We also want to help promote early career scientists during various conferences and meetings that are planned for 2016 in Sweden.
- We will serve as a platform were students can learn about new PhD, Postdoc and other positions opening in the field of polar research, through the social media and our website.
- We hope to be an organization were people with shared interests can meet and except for the above-mentioned official events we want organize a couple of informal get-togethers.
