Starting this year APECS Sweden will have a paid position for an executive secretary corresponding to approximately 4 hours per week, to work with promoting the interests of polar early career scientists. The first executive secretary of APECS Sweden is Ylva Sjöberg, at Stockholm University. The position as executive secretary will rotate every year between four sponsoring departments at Stockholm University:
Department of Physical Geography and Quaternary Geology
Department of Geological Sciences
Department of Meteorology
Department of Zoology
The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat also supports the APECS Secretariat through travel supports and other practical support. The new APECS executive secretary will work with building up a strong network of polar early career scientists in Sweden, promoting the interests of our members, and organizing activities for polar early career scientists at conferences and meetings. This will be a great new resource for APECS Sweden in our aim to be a strong voice for the next generation of Swedish polar scientists.
